The book
that I have recently finished is “Forget Me Not” by Carolee Dean. On my last
blog post I was at the part were Ally was in the hallway scared, alone and
upset. Since then Ally has realized that she is in a coma and that is why she is
invisible to everybody except Oscar and Elijah. Twice she gets trapped in the
hallway, with the ghost of others who have met their deaths at Ally’s school,
only to be saved by Elijah. The Hangman-one of the ghosts- keeps trying to get
Ally to commit to death and stay in the hallway forever but he actually wants
Ally out of the hallway even though he says she has to stay.
At the end
of the story when Ally finally defeats the ghosts she sees the Hangman smile
once she has silenced him and has finally made her decision to live. At the end
of the book the Hangman starts telling Ally that she needs to stay in the
comfort of the hallway where the hardships of life can’t reach her and she can
live in a blissful world of nothing. When Ally refuses Hangman starts to tell
Ally all of the reasons why she shouldn’t return to the real world like how all
of the people at school have seen the embarrassing picture of her and how Davis
hates her and how Bri doesn’t want to be her friend. Finally after hearing all
of these things that made her jump of the roof in the first place Ally is able
to tell Hangman to stop talking. After he hears this he smiles because he knows
that Ally is going to live and this was the choice he wanted her to make all
along.
Even though
not all of us have been in a hallway of ghost we can learn from Ally to face
are fears and always keeping going. Ally didn’t give up even when life was hard
because in the end Ally learned that you always have to keep going. I highly recommend
this book.
