Take Me There by Carolee Dean

The book that I have recently finished is Take Me There by Carolee Dean. On my last blog post I left off at the part right before Jess and Dylan meet for a second time. After that part a ton happens. Dylan escapes the law by running away to Texas. Jess comes down to Texas to find Dylan. While Jess is there Dylan’s father admits to a murder he didn’t commit but has been in jail for it for 11 years and has now been sentenced to death by lethal injection. At the end of story Dylan is convicted of a murder that he did commit but only for protection. This book doesn’t end like most books with a happy ending.
Most stories end with happy endings or at the very least fairly. But Take Me There ends with Dylan being sent to jail because he killed Spider a gang leader who was about to shoot Jess through the head. Most stories would end with the jury seeing that this murder was only an act of protection but in this story Dylan is seen as a heartless killer. This isn’t how most stories end because it doesn’t end with a happy ending.
From this book we can learn that life isn’t always going to be a happy and end in a fairytale. This book helps us face reality and the fact that sometime life just isn’t fair. I highly recommend this book for 12 and older because of the killing and overall content of the story. This is a very amazing story.

Take Me There by Carolee Dean

The book I am currently reading is Take Me There by Carolee Dean. This book is about a boy name Dylan who has a trouble past. He falls in love with a girl named Jesse. At the beginning he has started to clean him self up but then he makes a giant mistake. Dylan really loves Jess and he is really trying to clean himself up.
Right before he goes to meet Jess he, “ I went to the bathroom. Peeled off my grease-stained work shirt washed my armpits in the sink. Combed to my hair.” This quote shows that he is trying to clean him self up for Jess. He wants to look nice and cleaned up for her. He really wants to act like a new person and forget his past in jail.
I highly recommend this book for people 12 and up because of some of the content. I really like how exciting and dramatic it is. I met the author in New Mexico and she was really nice. I highly recommend this book.
